Four days into our relationship, we joked about eloping and not telling anyone. Four years later, on October 20th, 2024, we were married in a private ceremony atop Mt. Tamalpais in Marin, CA. We spent the morning getting ready separately and waited for our photographers, Tess and Kaitlyn, to meet us at our Airbnb to have our first look. We were both all smiles, excited and in disbelief that the day we had been dreaming of was finally happening.
We drove the windy roads up Mt. Tam in a red 1965 Mustang convertible, the car both of us fantasized about owning one day as teenagers. It was a beautiful late fall day, nearly 80 degrees with a light breeze. We chose to have our ceremony at a spot on Mt. Tam that was close to Kali’s heart, a place where she spent many days watching the sunset during her time living in Marin. No clouds in the sky, we overlooked Stinson Beach, surrounded by the rolling hills of the mountain, with the San Francisco skyline on the other side of us. As we were getting ready to begin our ceremony, a group of paragliders soared off of the mountain, making their way to the beach below us. We took a moment to watch in awe and soak in our beautiful surroundings, making the moment all the more magical.
Our ceremony was intimate and very special to us; we reflected our relationship, how we’ve grown together, our strengths as a couple, and our hopes for our marriage. We both wrote our own vows, which was something that was very important to us. After we were officially wed, we shared a bottle of champagne, toasting to our future and taking a moment to express gratitude to our officiant, Lauren, and our photographers for helping us create the perfect ceremony. Afterward, we drove down the mountain and stopped at Stinson Beach. When we got there, we noticed a double rainbow above us. We had cake and spent the evening sitting in the sand watching the sunset.
